“Ever since our coming together as man and wife, Angel and I have been in the throes of a rollercoaster ride that has brought us to a very crucial season in our lives. The first hurdle was the blending of two very different cultures. I would love to be able to say that because we are Christians this blending was a piece of cake but much to our dismay we very soon learned that just because you are born in the United States the subculture of your childhood years can be extremely different. Angel was raised in a very Latino culture and I in a very Italian/American culture. The way we viewed our lives in America, the way we cooked, cleaned and understood the roles of men and women began to form wedges in our relationship, along with some baggage from our previous marriage relationships. In addition to these cultural differences, two months after our wedding date we were in a near fatal car accident, two months later Angel was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and one year later we moved to Peru as missionaries. The very making of a disastrous marriage. The one thing we did have in common was our deep love for God, our surrender to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and a deep desire to bring glory to His name as missionaries in Peru. Throughout the years we have seen both growth in our relationship and many setbacks. But one thing we knew is that God is on the throne and He reigns over our lives and marriage. In His awesome wisdom, our Lord crossed our lives with that of Rick and Sharon Stangler, ministers of His Word around the world. In less than a week they discerned the crisis we were in and began immediately ministering to our wounded souls. Our restoration started with Rick and Sharon’s honest reproach and although we did experience a major setback their persistence and support coupled with the support and counseling of others we found ourselves on the road to recovery. Today we are very much in love and experiencing a unity in spirit that to this day still amazes us.
